Today’s Google event included some amazing new items for the home that are designed to blend hardware and software together to make life seamless and organized. Take a look at the new Google Home, Google Assistant, Google Wifi and Chromecast Ultra.
Google Home and Google Assistant
Just in time for the holidays we will see the launch of Google Home, Google’s answer to the Amazon Echo. In addition to a smart home control center, it integrates with the all new Google Assistant. You can use Google Home to playback entertainment throughout your home, effortlessly manage every-day tasks, and ask Google what you want to know. The bases are available in seven colors so you can make Google Home fit with any space and decor.
Google is taking on Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa with the new Google Assistant, an extension of Google Now. This is how Google explained Assistant:
“The assistant is conversational – an ongoing two-way dialogue between you and Google that understands your world and helps you get things done. It makes it easy to buy movie tickets while on the go, to find that perfect restaurant for your family to grab a quick bite before the movie starts, and then help you navigate to the theater.”
Google is now making app controlled routers that optimize the wifi experience throughout your home. Different modular access points can manage the network as you move through your house or stream from different devices. This device is similar to the Eero and will be available in singles or a multipack of 3. Pre-orders begin in November for shipping in December.
The upgrade to Chromecast called Ultra supports HDR, Dolby Vision, and 4K content and it now has an Ethernet port integrated into the power adapter. In more news, Google Play movies will start streaming 4K content in November!
