Kate Rooke Recognized by the Governor

At the Virginia Realtors Economic and Advocacy Summit last week, Governor Northam was the first speaker out of the gate on Wednesday morning, bright and early. As I met him and we were heading up the stairs to the ballroom, he asked me two questions: “How many people are here” and “Is Kate Rooke here?” Why yes, Governor, she is. She is dead center in front of the podium, about midway into the ballroom.

I introduced the Governor and he began his remarks, talking about how much he loves Realtors, and then he stopped and said: “Is Kate Rooke here?” In the sea of (I don’t have exact count, but probably nearly 500 people in the ballroom—it was jammed!), Kate stood and the Governor spent several minutes talking about how wonderful Kate was in the handling of the recent sale of a property he and the First Lady owned in Virginia Beach. He was truly effusive. Every eye in the room was on Kate, and there was a HUGE round of applause for her and for the Governor’s comments.

I know from the process of getting that deal done that it had all kinds of issues, and of course, the Northams were in campaign mode so they had little time to concentrate on the sale of that property. Kate ably guided them through the entire transaction and made it come together for them, helping them make good decisions.

A couple of top NAR folks were at my table, and they were so tickled that the Governor took the time to single out an agent. One of them asked me, “Do you know her and do you know her broker?” With tears in my eyes, I told them I certainly did. I could not have been prouder of Kate and what she has accomplished.

It speaks volumes about how this elite team operates and why we are so successful. It is likely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be singled out for your great work in front of a large crowd of your colleagues, by the Governor of the state.

Kate, way to go!Kate Rooke
